Recipes?

I'm looking for recipes that any of you have tried and enjoy for either Crock-Pot meals or cookies! I know, what a combination! Here are the restrictions: Crock-Pot recipes should not use tomatoes and cookie recipes should not use coconut - also, we like chewy cookies rather than crunchy or crispy. If you have any recipes to share, I would be so grateful if you would pass them on to me at thehomespunheart [at] hotmail [dot] com. Thanks!!

You can make cookies in a Crock Pot?

This is my favorite crock pot meal.

Beef Stroganoff

2 cans cream of whatever soup*
1 envelope onion soup mix*
3 tbsp water
8 oz sour cream
stew beef

Put beef in crockpot. Mix cream soups, onion soup mix, and water together. Pour over beef and mix well. Cook on high 4-6 hours or low for 6-8 hours. Stir, breaking up the beef. Stir in the sour cream. Serve over hot buttered noodles. This can also be frozen. Just thaw and reheat to serve.

*I've used homemade versions of these and they work fine as well.

Some of my favorite cookies are also exceedingly easy to make.

1 box cake mix, any flavor
2 eggs
1/2 c. vegetable oil or applesauce
any add-ins you want
(i.e. - chocolate chips, heath bits, raisins, craisins, etc.)

Mix together and cook for ~10 min at 350.

My favorite is to make lemon cookies with craisins. Instead of 2 eggs, I usually use 1 egg and then add a can of mandarin oranges and some applesauce until it has a doughy consistency. This way, the cookies are also fairly low calorie, but still taste great and are quite chewy. Making the cookies just with chocolate cake mix is also good. But pretty much any flavor works.

For good crockpot recipes you can look at allrecipes.com. I've made barbecue by cooking pork in the crock pot for a long time with chicken stock and some spices, then shredding it and adding barbecue sauce. Also "angel chicken" is good. It is cream cheese, butter, italian dressing mix, and white wine poured over some chicken breasts. It is good served over noodles with a veggie.

I guess that is all for now.

Hi,

I just saw on "mom"s comment that there is a home made version of the envelopes of onion soup mix! I am in shock! Could you share the recipe???

Ha Ha, Craig! Actually, you can make desserts in a Crock Pot, though I must admit - I've never heard of using one for cookies!

Thanks to all for sharing recipes! Yummy!

Kristy, I have often used homemade cream soup, but like you, had never heard of making onion soup mix - though it makes sense. Here is a recipe I found for dry onion soup mix:

1/4 cup dried minced onion
2 tablespoons instant beef bouillon
1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Directions:
Combine all together. This makes the equivalent of 1 package soup mix.

BBQ Beef
Cook on low overnight, a Sirloin Tip Roast in water with salt and pepper and onion (I know expensive roast but there's not much fat that you'll have to pull out, well worth it).

About a 30 minutes-1 hour before you eat drain liquid, pull meat apart, put back in crock pot with a bottle of Kraft's Spicy Honey BBQ sauce to keep warm.

Round Steak with Gravy
Add a can of mushroom soup to round steak and sprinkle with a packet of onion soup mix. Let it cook several hours. Great with mashed potatoes.

Put a whole chicken in a crockpot. Pour a bottle of bbq sauce over it (we like KC masterpiece). Slice up a whole red onion and put it on top. Cook on low for 8 hours or so. Makes a very good tender chicken. Youcan use the leftovers for a BBQ chicken pizza!
